We need routine and discipline

The coronavirus global healthcare emergency has hit us out of the blue forcing us to spend more time in isolation. We are now living with restrictions that most of us are unaccustomed to. Here’s a look at the astrological perspective and also how the world of alternative healers understands what is happening.

I contacted a few healers and teachers around the world who do deep spiritual work, and their message resonates with my own meditations in recent days. One healer feels a strong Kali force, the energy of Chamundi and similar divine feminine power that has taken charge of this world to bring about much-needed healing. Another teacher spoke of a “correction” that nature is taking charge of owing to the ills inflicted on it by man. Many others see this situation as a ‘testing of the system’ to check its resilience and flexibility.

The astrology perspective

Looking back at the 2020 annual forecasts, most astrologers predicted turmoil and a shakeup of the system. But in most forecasts, the turbulence seemed to stem from geopolitical unrest rather than a health issue shocking the global economy. Most 2020 predictions got the turmoil right but were unclear about its source.

These predictions are yet another reminder that there is much more beyond the understanding of the human mind and a chart. There are larger forces and energies at play that are perhaps too ‘out there’ for an astrology chart to pin down. It is yet another reminder that astrology is a greater tool for self-understanding and spiritual growth than it is for prediction. Using astrology for predictions — especially if the aim is to control a future outcome — is a desperate and often romanticized use for the vast wisdom that astrology is able to offer.

Insights for Covid-19

Saturn, the taskmaster: The biggest planetary shift that coincides with the rapid spread of coronavirus is Saturn’s move to Capricorn. The big theme was ‘justice will be done’. All the actions and behavior of the last few years would be taken into account by a serious and no-nonsense Saturn, who would then hand out the final exam results. It is no coincidence that the illness is sweeping across the globe in a ruthless, non-forgiving manner.

Saturn’s conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn has created havoc and sent the world economy into a tailspin. Saturn was conjunct Pluto during the two World Wars. When Saturn and Neptune are conjunct, they often bring illnesses and strange epidemics that often go out of control. Their last conjunction brought the Spanish Flu in 1918-19. Neptune is currently transiting Aquarius, and Saturn moves into that sign alongside Neptune on 21 March! So, we must brace for impact and exercise extreme caution over the next few days. These events will continue till July and start before they eventually come under control and settle down.

Understanding Isolation

Isolation and being in quarantine are represented by the twelfth house in an astrology chart. This house calls us to go deeply inward and explore our spiritual life while accepting the transience of everything around us. This enforced inner stillness and quiet can be too loud for many who are not accustomed to spending time alone. The answer to managing this season of quarantining is in the sixth house of the chart that sits opposite the twelfth house. The sixth house stands for routine, discipline and introducing into your life an almost exacting regimen. Do this by setting up a daily routine that may look different from your regular routine but still gives you the space and freedom to continue to achieve your personal goals for the year. Continue to keep an eye on your year’s resolutions and see how you can tweak the roadmap to achieve it.

Sure, this would involve sacrificing some creativity, and the inability to be wildly impulsive (all impulses must also be controlled to limited spaces and ideas). But in your disciplined day you can snatch moments of freedom that could open new doorways for better understanding your world.

Stay safe!

  1. Brilliantly put and understand why these pandemic has occurred. Nature has its own way of dealing with injustice perhaps humans have inflicted on Mother Earth. Self quarantine means look inward. Good piece of information. Thanks
